The basic story is that Kryten finds the matter paddle hidden in the kitchen on Starbug. This is a device that allows the user to travel through time and space. This accidentally malfunctions and throws Kryten into an alternate universe. There he must join forces with the alternate Red Dwarf crew who find themselves on earth. Kryten must then repair the matter paddle, and send them all back home in time for Kryten to make Mr Lister's Vindaloo !

Unfortunately I do not want to divulge more as it will spoil it in good movie making tradition.
