Sadly this project has
been cancelled indefinitely. It was too big a project, a little too ambitious
considering all the people involved were giving up their free time. However!!
If you check out the FILES section of the website you will find some of
the footage we did shoot available for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.
17th December 2003
Merry Christmas. The
production has been put into stasis for a while until the new year, better
weather and a kick up my ass is required to get things moving again. This
will be finished as what we have done so far is too good to be wasted.
I have done another small amount of filming involving Marcellus in his
office which was quite a hoot.
13th July 2003
A little bit more filming
commenced today, small scene needed to be completed in the Ye Olde Three
Tons Public House to mirror the bit in Pulp Fiction where Marcellus talks
to Butch about throwing the fight at the night club. Just a small scene
setting part in our film but integral all the same. I got told off as I
was laughing the whole way through. Well its Directors prerogative surely
?
10th May 2003
The first day of filming commenced last Sunday 4th May. Involving an early 8.15am start to film the first scene in Thirsk Market Square. That lasted for about half an hour and on the main page you can see a shot from that part of the shoot. Note what it says above the 'dogs' heads ! There were a few onlookers giving us puzzled looks.
Then we moved onto the next location outside the Ye Olde Three Tons Public House in Thirsk. The scene involved the 'dogs' walking into the pub but we had a problem with traffic continually moving into shot. So at my shout of action Mark G stepped into the middle of the road and stopped the traffic, we did the scene then he waved the traffic on again. We did not get any complaints except more puzzled looks. Perhaps the public thought we were shooting another episode of Heartbeat ! We did have a narrow escape as one of the cars that went past was a Police van. Good job Mark did not try and stop that !
Then onto the interior pub shots were completed. Mark G was again called into action but this time as a stuntman. This involved Mark laying on the floor in between Mr Blacks legs and catching a bottle of lager that Mr Green accidentally drops. There are a few funny shots of that. We then moved into the pub kitchens and finished off the final shots. Mr Green (Nick Eales) wife was there too with a much needed second camera which was very very appreciated as the sound from the kitchen scene was poor. Mainly as I forgot my headphones to monitor the sound as it was recorded.
So we recorded about
40 minutes of footage in total, which in the final edit will probably be
whittled down to about 3 minutes. The award for the first outtake of the
day (and many more thereafter) goes to Andy Billany, Mr Crimson. From the
footage I put together a teaser trailer which you can find on the FILES
menu. We are now currently planning to finish off the Resevoir Dogs section
and move onto the cafe scene as per the beginning of the original Pulp
Fiction film some time soon.
2nd April 2003
The first filming date has been confirmed as 4th May. This will indeed be the Resevoir Dogs scene filmed outside in Thirsk town centre and in the Little Three Tons pub. Hopefully it will be a fine sunny day. Also need to film a bit of dialogue before this can commence as one of the actors has a conversation with a non present character, if you get my meaning. I think I've got all my equipment now. Microphone and boom, digital camera, lighting rigs, home made steady cam, should look pretty special.
Going to the Red Dwarf
Dimension Jump Convention this week so might stick an additional page on
the Red Dwarf section with pictures from that. See what japes we get up
to.
28th February 2003
Things are progressing
slowly. I have been working on the first scene we are going to film, the
Resevoir Dogs portion and its hard going. On Monday the assistant director
and myself will frequent a local hostilary to purvey the location we will
be using. Okay we will be going to the pub for a drink and a look at where
the scenes will be filmed. Spent a considerable amount of money on a new
camera, microphone and boom. Also got a lighting rig and a home made glide
cam stand for the camera. My brother Simon has been thinking and making
props, any Star Wars fan should take particular note of the light sabre
on the files page, I am told it is something special.
15th November 2002
Welcome to our next movie production after the suprisingly successful Red Dwarf - The Other Movie. The website is still under construction but I decided to upload it to replace the naff one that was there. The project was originally started eight months ago. That is how long it has took us to produce the script. The story is based on Pulp Fiction but we have let our imaginations run a little to incorporate Resevoir Dogs (which we thought highly relevant) and a few other movie references to boot.
As we should not have the same copyright restrictions I had with Red Dwarf - The Other Movie this production will more than likely be available for download on the files page when completed - estimated Christmas 2003. We currently have a cast of over 20 and all the principal characters have been cast. There will probably be the usual shuffle around and the odd little re-write but at the moment we are coasting along with pre-production. Filming is due to start early next year and we have had our first scene read through this week which turned out to be better than I imagined. It is my intention also to document everything so we can have a proper making of documentary and the aim is also to produce a non-profit making DVD, Video and VCD. Watch this space.
